Based in the south east of the UK, this new club aims to be a friendly bunch of VW Drag racers with friendly RWYB style racing.

Why is it called DKR? Well it translates from the German "Der Kafer Rennfahrer" meaning "The Beetle Racers" in English

Anyone with a UK road legal Volkswagen Beetle is welcome to join in if they run a sub 15.9 quarter mile.

The club has online forums, a member list and members gallery along with an events calendar, we're not too formal, as thats how we think good old fashioned fun "racing" should be.

I have to say I have a vested interest, as I'm a member, so I hope to see you at the strip next summer.

No updates for ages, after blowing the diff out of the side of the gearbox at Santa Pod at Big Bang, things have been a bit slow. Works been hectic, so the car has been down the list of priorities, but now.......

Pro Street Gearbox - Check
Cup Bar - Check
Rhino Rear Mounts - Check
Race Axles for a 67 - Check
Rebuilt axle tubes due to the retaining ring being foobar'd - Check

And its all now back on 4 wheels ;-)

Take a hack saw to your pokey out bit off the bottom of your case and amazingly your EMPI sump fits a lot better. :D

Thanks to Funky Pete for pointing this out, looks like I shall go to the ball after all!!!

For full instructions, Volkszone, but the really important bit is...

"Now this is important , there is a lug on the case half , at the flywheel end of the engine , this , on some cases , sticks up a lot , then the sump sits right on it , and just stops it bolting down , not by much , but enough to stop it sealing .

If this lug is interfering , get a Junior hacksaw , with the blade fitted sideways , and saw 5 mm off it , or until it is flush with the other side of the case ."

Stuff done ready for Big Bang next weekend

Line loc fitted
Rocker covers drilled and breathers plumbed in.
Sump removed and reslead to cure a weeping oil leak
One piece windows seals re fixed.
Engine bay wiring tidied up.
Oil temp gauge fitted in type 4 oil take off.

Now all I need is somewhere to practice some burnouts ;-)
